Have you ever questioned your progress towards your goal and dreams? Have you ever[tweet_dis_img]
[/tweet_dis_img] gotten frustrated when results are not as quick to manifest as you would like?
Well I have!
One particular day recently, I expressed these feelings to my husband. He encouraged me, of course… but more than that he provided me with an amazing analogy that helped tremendously.
In his earlier days, Bill was an avid hiker. He traversed much of Arizona on foot. During these hikes he gained a perspective that applies to virtually every life experience.
Often the hike lasted 8-9 hours a day… and the destination seemed distant. That is when he took the time to look back and see just how far he had walked already! That encouraged him to keep moving forward while lifting his spirits.

With this in mind I started ‘looking back’ on my creative journey and all that has transpired since I first woke up one day and discovered I was bursting with creative energies that would not be denied.
-
I began with simple beading projects, including memory wire bracelets. They were fun to make but weren’t enough to keep me challenged.
-
Then I found metal work, took classes and then even more classes.
-
Designed more jewelry and created a unique web site.
-
Published my book . Inside the Mind of a Jewelry Designer.
-
Jumped into Social Media and took more classes/tutorials to help
-
Reworked my bench/work station to become more efficient
After reflecting on all this, I realized how far I had come, too! Of course there will be more challenges and some moments of frustration, but I will always have the ability to look back as well as forward.

It’s always great to look how far you’ve come! Thanks for the reminder!
thanks Trisha. It’s a wonderful way for me to stay positive
What a great idea, especially after the week I’ve had. But I know I’m on the right path, so thinking about how far I’ve come really helps. Thanks.
Thanks Carol. I can relate?
Looking back or reflecting back is a great tool. I use journaling for myself and with my clients. Connecting to our inner or Higher Self gives back so much! Thanks for the reminder.
Thanks Candess connecting with our inner self clarifies everything for me. And it’s where my inspiration lives
Love this! We can get so focused on what we haven’t accomplished that we lose sight of what we have. It’s important to be kind to ourselves and realize how far we’ve come.
Sometimes we can’t see the forest for the trees, right?
Yes, we’re always in a hurry to get somewhere but I have to remind myself it’s the journey not the destination.
Well said Jeanie
I love this idea, Alene. This is a fabulous idea to periodically look back and see just how far we’ve come. Sometimes, we can look critically at what we still have yet TO do that we don’t take time to see exactly how kick ass we really are!
We ARE kick ass aren’t we?
Love this! You have come a long way, and this helped to remind me how far I have come.
Thanks Robin?
Such a great point Alene.. while it can be helpful to look back on where we have been… but only to help us continue to move forward and not inhibit us from continuing. .. for sure.
yes Kristen. Exactly what I had in mind!
For the path I am taking as a Virtual Assistant and now as a Social Media Manager of the LeBrun Advisory Group, if I will look back in everything I’ve done for this dream job, I can never imagine how I was able to surpass all those challenges at all! And yeah, it’s a great thing to look back at everything so that we will not be able to take advantage of what we have right now. Great article here Alene! 🙂
Thanks Andrea. Sounds like you have a lot to be proud of…and even more to look forward to?
